President Walter to attend the 46th Munich Security Conference
Paris, 4 February 2010 - President Walter will be attending the 46th Munich Security Conference to be held from 5 to 7 February 2010 in Munich, Germany. The Munich Security Conference is renowned for the presence of high-ranking government, parliamentary and military representatives and has acquired the reputation of being the most important annual forum for strategic debate, with particular emphasis on transatlantic security relations and, increasingly also in recent years, on European and global security issues.
“This is the first Munich Security Conference after the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, which foresees an important role for NATO in the security of the majority of EU member states. The EU must therefore pay particular attention to EU-NATO and EU-US relations. This conference is a welcome opportunity to feel the pulse of the global security actors, hear their expectations of the EU and exchange views on the most pressing security issues of the moment”, President Walter said ahead of his conference participation.
